Server prelim. questions

Post by t3kt0n »

I'm considering swithching server providers from my current one,
I would like some info re: your services

I would need a 14 player server for UT2k4 ONS.

I would also require a redirect ftp ,
it is necessary to be able to delete files from this ftp since many custom maps are problematic and hung the servers.
Also do you provide any trobleshooting or tech support via irc?

Can you please give me some prices regarding the above setup?
Thanks

you can price and order our servers here: http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net/rent. ... tent=order
and also read our ut2k4 FAQ here: http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net/rent. ... eral-ut2k3
for any questions unanswered by those pages, please email us at rentals_at_nuclearfallout.net .
we have a very limited knowledge of UT2K4 in the irc channel so you might want to consider emailing us for most of your questions. Dont worry though, the email is almost always attended to within a couple of minutes.

Thank you,
I visited all the above mentioned before posting.
First concern is the private redirect ftp (with ability to delete maps) which is NOT answered on the links,if this cannot be provided then I have to look elsewhere.

We provide a free webspace that can be used for redirect. It is accessed through FTP. That is mentioned at the bottom of the UT2k4 FAQ.

On the webspace? Yes. Nobody else has access to add or remove files from the webspace but you. It has to be that way for security reasons.

GREAT.
My reason for asking this to be clarified is that most providers just bundle up the redirect on a public ftp and although the d/loads are fast ,there is no way that a renting server admin can delete maps.
I also :D do appreciate the promptness of your responses.

I pinged the NYC location and got nice low pings .
Is there any actual active UT2k4 servers in NY?
I would like to try them if there are.

On the server ordering tabs there is no NY choice for server location.
Should one choose Atlanta?

On your page you have this :

"Top-notch service and support through forums, IRC, and e-mail"

is the irc support for UT2k4 too?

Is there a payment option for 3 or 6 months prepayment?

Sorry for all these questions ,please bear with me ,I am on my 3rd server setup already and I just wish to avoid past mistakes.

We don't currently have any UT2k4 servers in NYC (we don't offer them there yet).

We can support UT2k4 servers in Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas currently. Any of those locations should work for you. In the future we may add support for NYC/Chicago if the demand is there.

Our helpers in support will try to assist whenever possible, although their experience with UT2k4 is much more limited than CS. E-mail is the most sure-fire support method for UT2k4.

We currently only offer month-to-month subscriptions.

Not a problem, we're good with questions ;)
