routes

Post by Seanzer »

I have an interesting routing question... I think I know the answer, but i'm not sure. If I run a tracertoue from my computer to my NYC Internap, I have to go through chicago and onto sprint's lines. But, on the return path, if I do a traceroute from my cs server, it stays on the atdn network (no sprint lines involved) all the way until it hits my computer. Also, it doesn't go through Chicago, but instead goes through ashburn viriginia like it should. I don't know if anyone know's why, but I'm assuming that it's because RoadRunner likes to keep their lines clear so they route all the way out through chicago to try and free bandwidth in the ashburn area. But, I'm wondering if there's anything anyone can do about this... like who I should contact, since RaodRunner tier 3 support is retarded....

Sean <3s the servers.

Send the tracert to us at rentals@nuclearfallout.net , make sure to include your personal ip address. We can contact interNAP and ask them to change the routing to your ip. Complicated process, but the folks interNAP are experts, thats why we use them :).
