Re: Epoch Server won't bind to ports

What operating system is the VDS - Windows or Linux? Is this for Arma 2 or Arma 3? How did you install the server (hopefully with the SteamCMD tool).

A common problem is/can be, that the server is reading from the wrong configuration/profile path (which will usually not happen on your home system).

Could you please do the following:
  • post your server RPT file
  • check if you can connect to the server via direct remote join (use the ip/port directly)
  • check if the server appears correctly in the ingame server browser
  • wait some time for the the dayzlauncher to list all available servers
As a last resort, if everything else has been tried and ruled out, you could wipe and then reinstall the operating system on your VDS.

Ok so currently it is sitting on server2012r2 atm clean with nothing on it, first five times I have reinstalled the server with server2008r2. I set these file up exactly how I would on my home server copied it done to a 'T'(So to speak).

I have used steamcmd everytime I have setup servers on other vds machines I currently have with vilayer ect ect, Chose nFo for american server cause nFo have better server setups and better routing then most if not all hosting companys(Told by a friend who has many of server with you guys I think?)Either way he spoke highly of nFo, Plus they don't do aussie host(Only reason way I am with Vilayer).

Back on track so I have been over every file every option tutorial from install epoch server right to trying to enable icmp echo reply which made no difference disabling the firewall by stopping and disabling the service. Even setup the server with firedaemon pro install it as a service wrote out the parameters 1 by 1 for the custom folders left it running for 36 hours can't ping it with any port checking tool. Which when I use http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ one of 2 things happens.
1. With the server firewall disabled and I try to ping 2302 port connection refused
2. With the server firewall enabled rules set for arma2oaserver.exe to accept every type of connection including custom rules for ports to accept any and all connections, I get a connection timeout which tells be the server isn't binding to the port, hence the timeout.
What confuses me is that when the fire wall is disabled the connection is refused?

Also I have tryed it with xampp installed running mysql, Also tryed external webserver linked to my account that comes with a mysql server running a database that I believe is on the same location. With the server running I connect to it using dayzlauncher manually It connects perfect could play for hours on ends, do my own scripts add premade scripts added infistar it all worked just would never show up on dayzlauncher or be pinged even after I was connected and playing.
(Both mysql server setups give both the same performance maybe abit more from the external 1)
I have a 2 core 3gb 200gbHdd 4tbquota/bandwith.

So I will just keep paying for it until one day I can get it to work. :D any help would be appreciated. Willing to give server access. Not panel access thou. Sorry :(

Anyway thanks all for taking the time and effort to help, even just reading the post and trying is appreciated.

PS. It showed up in the in-game browser. Everytime

You cannot ping an invidiual port/range with the ping command, only IPs (different network protocol).

That the port shows as closed can also mean that there is no application using it.

Please post your server .RPT and if possible also your server.cfg, this would help. I don't know what protocolls DayZlauncher/commander use, or how often they update their sever database, but as long as the server shows correctly in the ingame browser, the server should be running fine.

Try to let the server run for a few days and see if dayzlauncher/commander pick it up then.

hey did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same exact issue.

Server was working just fine until I loaded up some configs. I reverted it back and its still doing the same thing.
