Hello guys, i've hosted a garrysmod server on a vps:
Four core: Perfect for 4-12 game servers or many sites.
Four full, dedicated HT CPU cores (Nehalem or better)
4096 MB of RAM
400 GB of RAID-protected storage
6000 GB of InterNAP bandwidth transfer
With Windows 2008 R2 Software.
The problem is that when we get 23-27 players the server start lagging really bad. We don't have a bunch of addons but the server start lagging.
We're running a DarkRP Server.
If anyone could help me or like suggest me a better thing it would be nice, maybe running the server in other OS ?
This is a common problem, and one that can be easily solved
DarkRP just plain doesn't work well with 66 tick, no matter the hardware.
Bumping it down to 33 tick should do the trick. I have suggested this to multiple customers of NFO running darkrp on VDS and it worked for them, and one is running 40 slot atm, with no lag
If this doesn't fix your issue, post server IP here, as well as the CPU you got put on(Start-->right click computer-->properties).

It's added to part of the command that starts the server. You add -tickrate 33 to the command that starts it. I'm not sure if that's in the control panel or not, you might ask support. (the help section)

The VDS in unmanaged(check his screenshot in 2nd post), he contacted me directly via steam and I explained general lag fixes for DarkRP as well as helped him add tickrate to the command line

A tip, take the clickable link off your GT banner and add the link for the steam add friend, if you are committed to helping people here, it makes it easier for them to contact you if they choose
