HI there, I’m writing on these forums for some help, my problem is that i am new to server hosting, and I want to buy a server box from Nfo and I have no idea on how to set up a dayz overpoch server with the server box. It would be greatly appreciated if somebody would be able to help me point me in the right direction. For example I have no idea with points like;
-General server set up.
- How to launch the server from the server box?
-Is it anything like launching a dedicated server from your own pc?
Thanks, Jack Giant

Re: Help with Server box and Dayz overpoch
A ArmA 2 DayZ server is installed like any other ArmA server, you will need either a version bought from Steam (in which case you can use the SteamCMD tool for installation), or a retail version (in which case you would have to upload the DVDs via FTP).
NFO server package I would recommend an unmanaged VDS, which allows you a high flexiblity.
For the configuration, there are several official sites available that tell you how to do this, a search with your search engine of choice should provide several hits. Here is one useful URL:

The server is launched through the arma2oaserver.exe, once you connected to your server trough the Remote Desktop (a Windows OS is revommended for this).
Launching the dedicated server from your home PC is not possible, you have to use the Remote Desktop, or in case of a managed VDS, the control panel.

Re: Help with Server box and Dayz overpoch
Don't use a VDS if you plan to host more than 30 players on the server. Arma doesn't like to run well in a virtual environment at all. Once you hit about 30 players you'll start to desync really bad and there won't be a thing you can do about it. There's tons of posts on the Epoch forums about it. Speaking from experience here as well. With Arma, either go with a slotted DayZ/Epoch server provider or spend the extra money on a dedi and get bare metal hardware.
