I have no idea where to put this so I figured this is the best board to post it on.
Note: This is a Garry's Mod Trouble in Terrorist Town server.
This has been an issue for as long as I can remember and I still have no idea what could be causing it. The problem I'm having is that as soon as the server reaches 16 players or higher, everyone starts skipping around as if they're having high ping issues. With 1-15 players it runs perfectly fine and no issues at all. I'm almost positive that it isn't addons because I have added a lot more addons since I figured it out, have upgraded the server, and have even done a few server wipes. Despite all of that, I'm still experiencing the problem above. Any ideas on what's causing this and how I may solve it?
Experiencing some lag?

net_splitpacket_maxrate 250000
net_maxcleartime .01
sv_minrate 100000
Put these in the bottom of your server.cfg

Still the same issue. It's honestly really bizarre to me because with 1-15 people, everyone's ping is at their standard 15-70. At 16+ players, everyone's ping increases to 100+ on average. Is it actually too many addons or...?soja wrote:net_splitpacket_maxrate 250000

What map are you running?
Most TTT maps are terrible for server performance.

Re: Experiencing some lag?
It happens on every map. From maps as big as Crummy Cradle to as small as Mineshaft. No matter what map, the average ping at 16 players increases too 100+, and raising with added player count.soja wrote:What map are you running?

If it helps any, the server has 6 cores of a Dual Intel Xeon E5-2690v2 (Ivy Bridge-E 3.0ghz) node with 6 total processor cores and 6 gigabytes of RAM and its OS is Linux (Copied and pasted from the control panel). It has about 60 directories of addons, most of which are Player Models or single Detective/Traitor Weapons. I'm not sure if this has to do with anything, but it's sv.db's size is about 71 MB. I can list the all of the addons I'm using if you'd like.
It's weird because I've been having this problem with about 40ish addons.
Side note: I really appreciate you helping me out with this.
Re: Experiencing some lag?
Can you provide your servers IP so I can come check it out? I have been monitoring server performance for years on my servers(both small and large), and this would make it much easier to help you.
Also, on the "Server Usage" tab of your control panel, what does process CPU usage look like there? You can screenshot the graphs and show them here, that would be better than repeating the numbers.

Doesn't look like a resource issue. I'll join when it fills up today and take a look at net_graph.
