Gmod DarkRP Server VPS performance

Hi im currently running a darkrp server. I would like to have around 72 slots on my server. But was achieving around 20 last night. This has probably been improved to 40 as i reduced tick rate from 66 to 22.

I'm hosting it using a vps from another company and have a AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6386 SE with 6 cores. I know this is pretty useless as gmod servers only use 1 core. I was wondering would the performance improve if i was was to swap to an NFO vps with 2 cores.

Switching providers will give you a performance boost. NFO uses CPU's that are significantly faster than that Opteron. You will however not be able to reach ~70 slots on a VDS in GMOD. A server of that size requires the absolute most CPU power, and with overhead, it simply isn't possible.

I run a large Purge(basically DarkRP) server on the E3-1271v3, and the server uses 1.5 cores when full. VDS's here usually use the E5-2690 or the E5-2690v2.
