Hi, i was asking around and i finally figured out what to buy to get a ftp server, A server so i buy the server and i am trying to set it up with ubuntu, and the error when i try logging in is in the link below/screenshot. and i just really need help figuring this out. if anyone can we can just teamviewer or whatever you want.

You cant login as root its unsafe to do that. You need to make another user and login with that sudo adduser username then it will prompt you for a pw. Make sure vsftpd is installed you can install it by doing sudo apt-get install vsftpd. You may also need to edit settings in /etc/vsftpd.conf to make it so you can send and recieve files for the user.

awesome it works now! but how do i edit the users rights so i can add files and do what i want etc...

i get that error when i hit escape and then trying to type ::wq
can someone help.
if you want you can teamviewer or something to help me out.
