Remote DDOS Protection

Hello

I have a run a community on some of your servers that hosts a number of different services that experience a null route a couple of times a year (some times more frequently during high traffic months)

We plan on utilizing a remote ddos protection service that will provide a proxy for clean traffic to your dc. The rate would be atleast 100gbps so I would definetly like to move some of (and already have a couple) to this service.

Do you care if I use tunneling protocol for a reputable provider?

Do you have any experience with these services?

Is using a virtual networking adapter to facilitate a tunnel on vps/vds supported or do I need to use a physical box due to security or infrastructure concerns?

You should be able to do this if you wish.

Customers who have tried such proxy services have universally told us that they are not as good as our built-in protection, and that they also reduce performance.

Most companies that make DDoS mitigation capacity claims do not actually have the resources to back them up, and do not know how to mitigate common, trickier attacks that don't exceed their limitations. Many simply resell the services of other companies or are a single person who rents a dedicated server and makes a slick-looking website.

The gamble that such places make is that customers won't be attacked, or will be hit with small attacks. For those, they just collect easy money. Anyone who they can't handle, may cancel and move on, and they're OK with that -- it costs them nothing.

There is a very short list of legitimate places that offer real, beefy DDoS protection, with reasonable performance. Prices for such services are typically very high.

You should be able to do whichever you'd like, as long as it does not require a special configuration on our side.
