Plan on hosting a big community
I would like to host about 3-6 servers, 50 slot teamspeak and a big website. about 10-25 addons on the servers. I'm wondering what dedicated/full machine I should get. I see Peopleofgaming hosts with you and they manage there servers fine Also NFO support told me I should hire a lua programmer/developer to optimize the servers how much should I pay the programmer/developer. Thank you guys for your help!

What types and sizes of servers are you looking to run?
In terms of paying someone, it would depend on the scope of what you need developed.

Re: Plan on hosting a big community
If you have no existing community, you should start out smaller.
What kind of servers? What game/size/tickrate?
What kind of website? Are you going to use a CMS? What kind of forum software? Big as in a lot of files, a lot of users?
What do you mean optimize servers? You should really do your own server management, but if you insist on paying someone, it will depend based on what exactly you need.

I would like to have darkrp, and darkrp modified servers. We will do roleplay servers. The scope of the servers can range from scriptfodder addons to custom addons that programmers have developed for our servers. For the website we plan on having, xenforo forum and a custom web admin system for our game servers with also a ingame function. like ULX.
Re: Plan on hosting a big community
You need to give more details about the servers. Specifically the size and tickrate. You should probably start out with a VDS, but it can't support some server configurations.

Tickrate - 66
Also VDS wont allow me to host that many servers I heard:/

VDS's are great for communities starting out, but they don't usually have the power needed for large high tickrate servers.
At 66 tick, you are only going to be able to do ~60 slot on a full dedi, less on a VDS. Most servers run a low tickrate to support large amounts of players.

Re: Plan on hosting a big community
i'm up for suggestions on tickrate:) server size I guess you mean how many players on each server and how many servers? if so 80 players per server and I want 3-6 servers
Re: Plan on hosting a big community
At 80 players you will need the E3-1271v3 machine and run the servers at 16-tick, and even then you might experience performance problems. Expect to run around 3 full servers per dedi.
If you plan on having 3 of these servers, you will need to have separate web hosting so game server performance isn't affected. I haven't used Xenoforo personally, but I think users run it on the web hosting here. You could probably start out on the smaller hosting plan, and you can migrate to the larger plans as needed.
Teamspeak could be rented here, or hosted on your dedi. If you plan to host it yourself, you will need to purchase an AAL from teamspeak(http://sales.teamspeakusa.com/pricing.php?page=aal). I would suggest renting it here, because you can move to a larger server when you need it.

On the E3-1271v3 wouldn't I be able to run it all on the dedicated server:/
Re: Plan on hosting a big community
You "could" run the site on the dedi, but NFO's webhosting is cheap enough to where it won't make much difference and will ensure good performance for your game servers. In addition, IMO Linux is better for web hosting, and you will probably want Windows for the game servers.
Teamspeak's free license is only up to 32 slots, and the NPL is extremely restrictive, for example if you accept donations, they will not allow you to have a NPL.
If you want to be realistic, an 80 slot 16 tick server will use over an entire core of the E3-1271v3 when full. Here is a screenshot of the player counts and CPU usage on our Purge server, which runs at 22 tick. This is on one of our E3-1271v3's.

Re: Plan on hosting a big community
So What do you recommend I do? Just paying for separate webhost and teamspeak? and lower my server slots to 50~?
Re: Plan on hosting a big community
Webhosting and teamspeak is well priced here, it won't add much to your costs. As for the servers, if you only want to use one box, you can adjust player slots and tickrates accordingly. I wouldn't expect your servers to instantly fill up, so you will have time to adjust your servers. My recommendations are for peak usage, you can put as many servers as you want on the box, if they don't fill up then you won't see any impact on performance.Light_Magic wrote:So What do you recommend I do?
