Which VDS option is right for me?

Post by milly »

Hello everyone,

Our community is looking to expand into a new location.
I am a bit on the edge on getting a dedicated box for a new location so I would like to test it out with just one server to see if there are any interests. ( I may even keep the VDS if it's deemed to be a good location for us)

I am looking to host a 32 player HLDS (CS 1.6) server on Linux with about 11 AMX plugins (nothing too intensive)

Any suggestions on which VDS option I should purchase to run this server?

If you are just doing testing, I'd recommend you start out with one of our smaller VDS's as all of our packages should be able to do what you want with ease. If you are familiar with Linux, I'd recommend the single core option, if not, go with the two core.

Thanks kraze!

Will the performance be okay? I won't be adding pingboost or increasing the sys ticrate.

I wouldn't expect any issues.

Yeah I found the starting vds to be surprisingly powerful. You could probably run three or four goldsrc servers.

But keep in mind I've never ran a goldsrc server, I'm just assuming they're not that intense because the software 17 or so years old. The Garry's Mod server I hosted on my $10 vds felt as powerful as a ~$25 gameserver. Only ever had lag when people spammed a lot.
