Ubuntu Server 15.04 (DNS Entry issue)

So I just bought a two-core VDS and I'm trying to get the ip of the server to point to my domain jacobm.co

Here is my /etc/network/interfaces file:

        address serverIP
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        gateway serverGateway
        dns-search jacobm.co
        dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

How can I get the servers IP to bind to the domain name?

Perhaps you mean reverse DNS? If so, you need to set that via your control panel: https://www.nfoservers.com/control/ips.pl

If that's what I need then my next question is why I cannot use it... this is taken from the IP List tab that you provided.

"If you would like to customize the reverse DNS entries, please contact us so that we can enable this feature for you. The feature is disabled by default due to high levels of spam-related abuse."
