CoD4 Linux binary files?

Post by wally »

Hello everyone,

There's a good chance I'll move my VDS from Windows 2008 to Ubuntu. Before doing so, I need to make sure I got everything covered.

I run a few cod4 game servers and need the Linux binary files so I can test prior. Where can I get the binary files for the server?

Thanks in advance.

I don't believe there is an official mirror anymore, so you'll need to pull them from a third-party. Have you tried searching around a bit to see if you can find a working download link for those binaries?
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

I did search. I was just skeptical on the downloads on Google. I much preferred a provided link from the folks here.

The main binaries are here: http://treefort.icculus.org/cod/cod4-li ... 08.tar.bz2
Apply this afterward: http://treefort.icculus.org/cod/cod4-ln ... st.tar.bz2 (it contains a new cod4_lnxded file that rate-limits queries to prevent use as a reflector in attacks)

Both of these are direct links to Ryan C. Gordon's site. Ryan C. Gordon was the person contracted to do the official Linux server port for the game.

Much appreciated.

For future reference and for others: I did a test run on my home server (Ubuntu 14.04). I couldn't get the server to start though. After much trial and error, I figured out I needed to add the main and zone folders to the cod4 server directory. I also needed to cd into the cod4 directory and start the server with ./cod4_lnxded +exec yourserverconfig.cfg +map_rotate

Now to find a good webgui that doesn't use too much resources. Is Webmin the best choice for Ubuntu?
