I've read on your forums that Windows 2012 R2 is stable for VDS. Would you recommend 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 to new customers? I realize this is probably "it depends on X, Y, and Z". But especially for someone who is new to being a game server Admin, and who isn't yet sure which games they'll ultimately run. In other words, what's easiest to Admin across the widest variety of games? Any notable stability or performance concerns between these 2 in your VDS?
Also, is this game listing current... for supported games with "Managed Linux Game Server"?

I'm looking forward to trying your service, Thanks in Advance!
For VDS is Windows 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 now recommended?

I personally recommend Windows 2008 R2. It seems to perform just as well, and we use it internally, so we have extensive experience with it and know for certain that it is rock-solid.
You might consider Windows 2012 R2 if you prefer its Windows 8-style interface, or if you plan to use IIS for webhosting. The only problem that we have heard of with it is that it sometimes doesn't boot properly on Xen -- but, this can be worked around by just rebooting again (until it works), and it is stable post-boot.
The list of Managed Linux games is kept up-to-date. Also, note that if you're choosing a managed package, we'll handle the Windows and Linux version selection, so you don't need to consider specific editions -- you just choose which general OS you want to use.

Your reply is exactly the context I was asking, and I'll use 2008 R2 per your suggestion.
Any similar recommendations for Ubuntu 14.04 vs Ubuntu 16.04 ?
(I'll probably also end up with an unmanaged Ubuntu VDS)
Previously for game hosting: I used AWS a bit (due to procurement bureaucracy from my institution), but I had a lot of struggles with AWS.
Back then, John (the CEO) was extremely helpful in a pre-sales support ticket with me.
I'll study the forums here more,
Thanks!

Re: For VDS is Windows 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 now recommended?
For Ubuntu, I recommend using the latest -LTS release, generally. It should offer the highest performance and best compatibility, and LTS releases are supported for 5 years. 16.04 is the latest -LTS, so that would be the better choice right now, in my eyes.
I'll continue trying to be helpful
