Need default server config for counter-strike source.

Post by hello moto »

The way it's setup now I've got everyone moving too fast and there's no friction so you can run+jump and still be running top speed. The config provided by nuclearfallout does not have anything resembling the default server setup. If anyone could go ahead and send me a server configuration with all of the default settings, that would be nice.
Thanks in advance...

Our default one is actually very close to the defaults.

For the complete defaults, you would just not use a server.cfg file ;)

Then why is it that everyone's movements are so out of whack?

On every server I join the movements are normal and the admins claim to be using default settings.

You might try deleting these three lines in server.cfg, they're the only ones I see in there that might cause the problems you describe:

sv_accelerate 5
sv_stopspeed 75
sv_rollangle 0

We added those lines following complaints that our servers did not behave like others -- they were originally in other files than server.cfg.

I just added those to try and fix it, those have not been in the config before about 10 minutes ago.

With everything in the config except the last entries which were added temporarily, everything is insanely fast. A lot of people comment about it so it's not just me that's noticing it.

Then can I just get a list of all of the default cvars that are normally on a server, so I can put them all in the server.cfg to see if that fixes it?

the motion you describe would only happen if you are running some type of metamod plugin (like AXN) that directly changes the settings on the server. By default, all of the server's settings are well.. default. The ones in our server.cfg are the ones that are modified. If you tell us your server's identifier, ?.nuclearfallout.net we should beable to take a look and see what is causing it. for a default server.cfg (HLDS) you can look around in your STEAM folder on your computer.

bOoya, he said this was a CS:S server.

As I said before, to get the default settings you could just run it without a server.cfg. Or rather replace your server.cfg with just one line -- rcon_password. Then restart the server and see if runs as you expect.

We don't get any other complaints about this and we do run dozens of CS:S servers. :?

Yeah, I already tried without a server.cfg or with only one line. It's still messed up. No friction at all on the "default" settings. You can just run around and jump around as you please with no slowdown. It's better with the inclusion of some settings in the server.cfg, but still very wrong.

I renamed your old server.cfg to serverold.cfg and replaced it with a new one. You had a couple cvars in the server.cfg that aren't recognizable by Source, but is by 1.6 CS.

I went in and played at 12:50AM PST, and it was operating under normal gameplay with regular friction.

Appears to have been fixed, let us know
