Moding my server

I need help with moding my server. I know i need to down load mods but then what do i do with them. Do I have to contact my server provider and have them load them or can i do it my self.

You should generally be able to download the mods and then upload them to your server through its FTP. The exact procedure differs between server types.

theres 3rd party ftp clients and theres the built in IE FTP, which if you click on the link provided in the file manager section of your control panel, you can gain access to the FTP. Now FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, which means that its a medium to transfer files from your computer to the server remotely. To edit the config files, then you go to file manager and edit accordingly.

Thanks for help but it wont connect me to ftp it says that windows cannot open these files a connection to the server could not be established now what do i do
help

do you have a firewall that could be blocking the ftp connection?

i do have a firewall how do i let it connect to ftp

not sure, depends on the firewall you have, you need to open port 21 or if theres an option in the firewall settings to allow FTP services or something similar to that, enable that.

now my firewall wants me to configure port how do i do that sorry but i dont know much about ip or ftp setting

configure port as in open port 21 for FTP

i opened port then it asked me to edit port configuration
Program name
incoming tcp/ip ports
outgoing tcp/ip ports
incoming udp ports
outgoing udp ports
description
it wants me to put in info for all these settings

first of all, disable the firewall and see if this is the issue at all
