Mother's Day sale - E-2186 and E-2288 for $40 off!

Post by Edge100x »

For a short time, we are offering a steep discount on freshly-ordered E-2186 and E-2288 dedicated machines.

Normally priced at 199.99/mo, we've slashed the E-2186 down to 159.99/mo -- a $40 savings. With the "highest discount" option chosen to trade a one-time payment for a permanent monthly discount, pay as little as 119.99 monthly!

Or, level up to the E-2288, which has two more processor cores and higher performance per core, along with dual enterprise-grade NVMe SSDs. It is normally 229.99/mo but drops down to 189.99. That's only 149.99 with the one-time payment option.

On top of this, we've temporarily reduced the price on an unmetered port (available at Premium locations) to only 9.99!

This is a great time to upgrade an older machine. But, the sale will be over soon, and end even earlier if run out of inventory, so order quickly.

(These prices are also available to existing customers, but any one-time payment would need to be repeated, and other changes, such as the OS fee or bandwidth transfer amount would need to be applied.)

Do these newer dedicated machines have faster networking (ie. 2.5Gb, 5Gb, 10Gb)?

lithium720, we don't have many dedicated machines with 10G adapters, mostly because we haven't seen the demand for it. Most CPU/memory intensive tasks, like game servers, simply don't need it -- the main reason they might is to absorb DDoS attacks, but it's really rare to have an attack between 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps (most attacks are either application-targeted and smaller than 1 Gbps, or much larger than 10 Gbps). We handle volumetric attacks pretty thoroughly on our end, as well.

We do have a number of VDS machines that have 10G adapters, because they are hefty machines that have many customers on them.

If you have a bespoke need for a 10G-capable machine, we could potentially do it on a new E-2488. We'd have to discuss that more directly.

To me it just kinda seemed to make sense for these newer dedicated machines to have such hardware, because the price of a 10Gb NIC doesn't really hike the price of the physical machine by much, especially if the rest of the network infrastructure is already there to support it. Also considering how much more it is compared to a VDS.

It's not really a bespoke need, but the extra volume might help in 1% cases or maybe more in other uses. Otherwise it could be the difference to making the upgrade or even someone making the move to NFO, who knows.

A modern Porsche doesn't come with manual roll-up windows. :)

For these servers, it adds around 10% to the cost of the machine, so unfortunately it's not trivial.

Not sure why that is. Seems like they should have made 10G copper the standard 10 years ago.
