FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Cache_Alloc: already allocated

Post by Bloodspitter »

My CS 1.6 server has crashed and auto-restarted twice in the last four days. The logs show this error message both times, when loading different maps. The maps have loaded previously and been played with no problems.

What does this error mean and does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks!

It's hard to say what would be causing that. But, it's been awhile since bugs have been discovered in the base game, so I would tend to suspect a plugin of some sort. Are you running the latest versions of all the plugins? Have you tried disabling any of them?

Once every two days isn't too bad compared to CS:S servers. Valve still has quite a few bugs to work out in those.. :(

I'm still seeing this pop up in the "Events" log every week or so. Always with different maps. The server attempts to start a map, it initializes the sequence as normal, but is interupted by something and that is the same error message every time. There aren't many plugins on the server, all are current.

I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Is there no better diagnostic available that will pinpoint the root of a problem like this?

Try running without LogDaemon and see if the error still occurs.
We have found this particular plugin to be buggy in the past.
Also, I dont know if you have been running the older version of HLGuard that is installed on your server (not running) because those older versions also have some compatability issues.

How do I get rid of LodD or that older version of HLGuard without screwing something else up? When the server was first started a freind helped set it up who had a server in the past, so I really don't know what needs to be there and what doesn't.

I got another one of these errors this morning, crashed the server again. This is getting to be a real problem and I need it fixed.
Thanks for any help.

Also, how do I install the most recent version of metamod?

Since this problem seems to be specific to your server it would be easier and faster to help you if you came to our support channel on IRC (information is at the top of this support forum). Come by and we can help you through this.

The problem has not gone away, only now it's crashing every 2 days with the same error in the logs. I'm heading over to IRC now for help.
