Running different mods on different days

Post by ElvisG »

I would like to have our nfo cs:s public server run different mods, "bettlemod, manimod with zombie mod" on different days.

The problem I'm facing is that I don't know exactly how to do this. Just to give y'all an example like Monday through Wednesday I would run manimod plus zombie mod then the rest of the week I would run bettlesmod.

How do you set which cfg to be run on them days? I'm guessing all I have to do is put "exec monday.cfg, tuesday.cfg, and so on" in the autoexec.cfg. I just want to make sure I'm doing this correct. Also is this going to require me to restart the server whenever the day for a different mod comes up?

I know this is asking a lot but it isn't going to hurt to ask. Is it possible for nfo to create a download zip file that all the files are put into the correct place for adding mods to your server? So let's say I wanted to put manimod with zombie mod running on the server. Then all I would have to do is download the zip file from nfo and input the correct info and change some setting to my liking and there you have it. This would save nfo customers hours and hours of their time trying to make current mods work.

You could probably do it with configuration files by loading all the plugins and then having a configuration file for each set of settings you want to run with plugin_pause/plugin_unpause/etc and any other necessary commands, and execute the configuration when you want to switch. It's not something I've done and I don't know enough about those plugins to know if it works for certain; one of our other staff members may be able to chime in with more info.

We wouldn't do it with a zip, no. We'd do it with the Easy setup tab. But, these sorts of configuration sets take a lot of work on our end to update and maintain, and we might have problems with people who don't know what they're doing clicking and having these mods installed, increasing our support burden when they need further help to customize and reconfigure them. That is why we haven't added anything complicated (like WC3 or CSDM, historically) to the page. We are considering adding mani mod as an option.
