Dreamweaver ftp setup

Post by MrXtramean »

I tried on IRC to get help setting up the Studio 8 - Contribute, but didn't get much help there. So I thought I might try so more on my own and still didn't have much luck.

Now, in Dreamweaver, it has the "Site/Configure Server" setup, asking for the ftp info. I've tried plugin in there everything I know to see if I can get the Dreamweaver 8 configured to the NFO ftp web space site, and nothing works.
We're at ndn.nuclearfallout.net
Of course I know our username and password.

Any help? What goes in the blanks or can someone step me through this? I'm new to the Studio 8 stuff...but I'm self learning it all.

I've never used Dreamweaver or Studio 8 myself, but for the FTP host, you'd put your website's address (in the form of xxx.nuclearfallout.net) and for the host directory you'd most likely put "/" (if that doesn't work, you'd need to try "/usr/www/youridentifier").

Didn't work. Although I'm not 100% sure what you mean by
/usr/www/youridentifier

I think I read that Nick|NFO uses Dreamweaver or someone from NFO uses it. I can setup the ftp for the server, but not the web.

I know that some Game rental companies give you an URL ftp address, i.e. ftp://username:password@ip

Anyone out there use Dreamweaver with NFO?

I've used it a long time ago, but currently do not.

FTP host: ndn.nuclearfallout.net
host directory: blank or /
login: username
password: yourwebspaceftppass

Otherwise, you can just use a 3rd party FTP client like Filezilla or SmartFTP and upload the files that way.

I used Dreamweaver 8 and still have the install program so I will probably use it again if I decide to do more web design.

You do just as Nick said and the key point to realize is it is blank for directory or a "/" OR if you want to go to a specific directory such as one you made say maybe "site" you would do "/site/"

DOA
No go. Thanks though.
There's the NFO web space and the server files.

I can access the server but not the space with info I have and the instructions listed below to use either the Dreamweaver or Contibute programs.

Thanks anyways all.
