Server OS

Hello!

I read in your FAQ that you use Windows as an OS on your servers. What specific release do you run? Windows Server 2003?

Thank you!

We run several flavors of Windows in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and generally have found that the performance has been identical with all of them.

We also actually use Linux for some Steam-based servers, including ultraaccelerated servers. It has its pros and cons and I'd be happy to discuss them in more depth with you in email if you'd like.

I would love to talk about the intricacies of running HLDS. I've heard that linux, contrary to its nature, crashes hlds or has issues with it's libraries.

It would be great if you sent me an email :)

We haven't had difficulty with Linux causing crashes, but we did with FreeBSD.

Our email is: rentals @ nuclearfallout.net. I can't go into terrific detail since our high performance levels are critical to our success and have much to do with the way we configure our machines, but I might be able to answer some of your questions.
