I'm trying to install that for a CoD4 server, I go to the mysql site and then their downloads section and thats where I get stuck. I don't know what to download, I tried the community server but then that failed installing
I also tried that windows installer you linked me in emails but that was failing also, first it would complain about a missing .dll. I got past that then it said python 2.5 wasn't installed (It was).
Asking for help at the B3 forums is a pain cause they hardly answer and they wont help with python or mysql problems really.
I'm not too familiar with B3, so the help I can provide here will be limited. But, for the MySQL component, I'm surprised that the version on the MySQL website wouldn't work. What error did it give? Is it stumbling across the remnants of the other install, maybe?
If the error turns out to be due to a bad uninstall of MySQL that is difficult to correct otherwise, you might try a fresh install of the OS, but otherwise it might be counterproductive. I'd have to see the error to get a better idea of this.
A Debian installer wouldn't work on our preconfigured Gentoo install, so you would have to use their manual install instructions or install Debian first. The main Debian installation CD is now available through the ISO selection box on our "Server control" page.
I re-installed the Windows Server 2003 and going to try to install it again soon. If I fail again I'll wait a few weeks for this B3 forum mod / plugin writer (who made the linux installer and one of the windows one) to get back. I luckly have someone in our clan whos a friend of him kinda
i would recommend linux OS for B3 since its more stable and i can help better with the posix i had setup a B3 with a web administration called echelon and xlrstats
