[Help] Windows 2008 Firewall Exceptions

Post by MjrNuT »

Hello,

I'm not that familiar w/ the new and improved GUI of W2K8. I had enabled the Firewall and intended to only allow TCP on port 27015.

In starting the server and testing, I cannot get a successful query with HLSW, for example.

I set an inbound and outbound rules.

Even when the Firewall is disabled, rcon access is denied.

Could someone guide/point me to a resource and provide a step by step?

Thanks!

For a HL1/HL2 server, you'll need to enable inbound UDP on port 27015 and port 26900 in addition to TCP port 27015. You'll also need to allow outbound TCP so that it can contact the Steam servers.

What error is it giving you with the firewall disabled? If it's saying the password is wrong, then you may just need to adjust that :).
