Adding Favicon

Post by Suave145 »

How would I add a Favicon to my phpbb3 Forums. I've tried looking through the FTP files for the favicon image and can't seem to find it.?

To set an icon for a site, upload a favicon.ico file to whatever folder you would like it to show for (or, upload it to a higher folder, and it will be used for the lower one, as well). Client browsers automatically download this file.

If you need to create a favicon, there are many sites that can assist with this, such as http://www.favicon.cc/.

I put it into format favicon.ico and pretty much placed it into ever file till it worked and it doesn't seem to work. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Browsers don't re-request the file right away, so it can take time for it to show up. If you can manually load it (by directly going to the favicon.ico URL), and your site is in the same folder or a subfolder, I'd recommend just giving it some time or testing with a different browser that you have not used previously to load your site.
