Single core: Perfect for 1-3 game servers or intense website.
One full, dedicated HT CPU core (Nehalem or better)
1024 MB of RAM
100 GB of hard drive space
1000 GB of InterNAP bandwidth transfer
im thinking about running 2 gmod servers and a cs:s server all at about 20 slots and at 66 tick (no need for the smoothest gameplay)
im trying to decide if i should go ahead and get a vds or if i should just rent the three seperatly. im currently running a gmod server. but my current host is having issues and im beginning to think that there is only one guy running the servers now. im tired of having to wait for the guy to get on steam so i can tell him to restart the dedicated server software.
im wondering if this configuration would be enough or if i should go with something else
Trying to decide if this would be the better route

Re: Trying to decide if this would be the better route
I'd personally go with a 2-core managed VDS. Gmod servers can fluctuate pretty wildly in how much CPU and memory they use, and a single-core might not have enough memory for you, especially if you want to run another server on top. With a managed VDS, we also handle the game updates for you, and we have the automatic SVN tool and websync (if you also purchase the 2.99 webhosting option).
You could certainly try an 1-core unmanaged, though, and upgrade or reinstall later, if need be.

Re: Trying to decide if this would be the better route
the 2 core is a little over my budget that i will allow myself to spend. though i would have to do alot more work on the servers if i dont...
and with my current hoster i can get all 3 of those servers at 20 slots for about 45 one of the gmod servers will have about 30 npcs running around also. and i know from experience without enough ram and cpu power that in particular could crash the server.
the only thing stopping me getting the 2 core right now is that im on a pretty tight income atm. and my servers more or less run entirely off donations

I understand. The price for your other host also is likely one factor in why the service and performance are lacking -- less money also buys less hardware, lower-end bandwidth, and fewer employees, unfortunately.
One nice thing about having a reliable, high-performance server is that clients are more likely to enjoy playing, which means they tend to play more, and end up being more likely to donate. I've talked to many customers who say that they moved here from a low-end host and their donations easily picked up to compensate because of the quality increase (though that might not necessarily happen for you).

Re: Trying to decide if this would be the better route
the only real complaint i have with them is the slow support.
so are you pretty confident that the 2 core can handle the 3 servers??
alright i will definitely consider you guys if im going with the vds thing. though right now im still debating even that. im just weighing my options here

Re: Trying to decide if this would be the better route
I would expect for the 2-core configuration to handle those three servers. It's not possible to be certain without seeing the servers running, but it would be reasonable.

ok *makes note to come back later* thank you for your time
