voice chat bug

Post by fearepic »

I just started up my vds cs:s server today. Everything works great except for one thing, which is the voice chatting system. When someone trys to talk ingame on their mic it sometimes doesn't go threw and no one can hear them. It also sometimes cuts people off mid-sentence and we see there mic box disappear completely . Is there anyways to fix this? (i checked to make sure my server was up to date and it is.)

Hi,

I heard not to long ago that there was a voice chat bug in the beta, I am not 100% sure if they have fixed this yet.

However it never hurt to run through some trouble shooting steps.

Would you say this occurs to a lot of people or just a select few over and over? Are the people that are talking do they have a high ping, or pink spikes? Did they try changing there push to talk button in case the button was not registering correctly when being pressed?

@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

You're thinking of the beta for CS 1.6, kraze.

fearepic, that's a new one for me, but it's true that not very many customers are running the very latest CS:S release.

Have you changed any of the voice-related cvars on the server?

You might try changing sv_use_steam_voice to 0 or sv_voicecodec to vaudio_miles, and see if either makes a difference.
