Recovering root password

Post by Orel »

I seem to have changed the root password at some point on my VPs and ofcourse I don't remember it now and I can not login to the vps after I restarted. I tried to change system password but it still won't work and I really can't afford to lose the files I put on the VPS. Any knowhow to overcome this?

On the server access page of your control panel is should display the VNC password. You can log in to that and change it back.

No it would not.

Edge100X may have some other ideas but another method would be to re install the OS.

Actually I solved the issue by booting the VDS into Single mode and manually changing the root password.

Thanks
