Apparently the R6 update was applied while the server was near full.
Thought it was supposed to wait till it was empty?

It should of only applied to empty ones, unless it was specially asked for.

Others have brought this up because the timing of the server going down is when the post is made to the events log.

The update won't cause the server to go down, and when the above is seen, it is actually the reverse order: the server went down (likely a crash or some other issue) and the system took that chance to apply the update, since it no longer has players in it at that point.

LOL - funny - I actually bet my clan members that that was going to be the exact response.

Don't matter anyway.
After our time is up, we are shopping for a new host.

Really? BF3 servers have been crashing like crazy and you think NFO applied the patch to your server so it goes down? I ended up restarting one of my R5 servers and when it came back up it was R6.

Our server has only crashed twice today.
Might have crashed twice before that since release.
We haven't seen the crashing like others have.

What TimeX said is accurate. The tool simply will not adjust servers that have players -- and that's a very easy check to make. It also doesn't adjust servers that can't be contacted, since it could be that a server was briefly unresponsive while a map was loaded and we don't want to take that chance.

The R6 update was also only ever applied once to each server (something that you can tell yourself through the "Events log" page), and you said that your server crashed twice. This alone tells us that you were just experiencing regular crashes. I'm happy to hear that you didn't see such random crashes before; you are in the minority on that.

I encourage you to experiment with another host right now if you are serious about planning to cancel, while the game still has lots of bugs. I want you to realize that the problems are not with NFO, and that our systems actually do a very good job.

I really appreciate how on the ball you guys are with patching servers. Immediately applying the patch when the server empties out or crashes is a great strategy. I’ve never had a hosting provider so on top of these things. Thanks NFO!

NFO forever. The game is brand new, there will be bugs and there will be patches. You will not get a better host for your BF3 server. Like John said, go elsewhere and you will truly see what we mean  .

Most companies make customers do it them self.

Also other companies do not have our update system here. Especially with Valve games our system grabs it automatically and will start deploying it.

I have to kinda side with NFO here. I have been with almost every game server company out there... I might have been on their (NFO) case at first about not having the servers up like 0-sec access. Other then that.... their custom scripts and web applications that manage these games servers is LEGENDARY in game server providers, those others cant touch this place... they use cookie cutter tools while NFO makes custom applications. Also ... This is a NEW GAME on a NEW ENGINE... that dice built from ground up. I am all for flaming company's that due wrong, but I don't think any one is in the wrong here. Maybe dice for not beta testing more... but that about it.. =)

My main worry with R5 and R6 has been whether they've been released too fast here. We've had problems with some games having broken updates, and rolling back servers and managing multiple versions can be difficult.

Cancelling has nothing to do with the bugs in the game. That we expected.
It's once again your failure to provide a SS url link that can be found at any other host. Your last comment in the other thread leaves the impression that the anticheat tool devs should alter their programs to suit your style is just going to be laughed at. They develop the tools to work the way the greater community of GSP's offer their SS's. I don't think your company could ever host TWL matches without it. I think they require it I believe. So that would remove a large deal of customers from purchasing from you.

I am going to start a new thread with a few questions on other options, so to see if this can be salvaged some way.
