Max players per game mode?
Does anyone know what the max players are per game mode?

It has been mentioned elsewhere on these forums, but I think it changed a bit in one or more of the updates. It is made further complicated by game modes forcing the server to report one number of slots, but actually letting in a higher number.

That sounds about right, but I would have to test it to say for sure.

Our "Easy setup" page lists them.
TDM can actually go to 32 and Rush goes to 64, if you use our map cycler and manually set vars.maxplayers to the right number. They both just show the wrong limit in the status output -- known game bug.

I noticed some 64 slot rush maps and some 32 slot TDM.
Can't figure out why in battlelog right now, our server shows 32 slots for TDM, but in gametracker and Procon it shows 24.

Can we use the higher slots without using the map cycler? woowoo, possibly, but I'm not sure. I had one person say that they had problems until they used the cycler, possibly because it wipes the cycle and re-specifies maps each time, but that might have been in an earlier release, or that person might not have fully tested.

That's pretty much how one of my servers works. It's a deathmatch server with a 32man limit. When the map changes it basically kicks enough people off to bring it down to 23/24 when the round starts. From there the process repeats itself over and over.

designated map in the cycler wipe the cycle each time - or just the random one?

Both should work the same from the server's perspective. I personally tested with the random option.
