Can i hold 50 slots with ze enabled?

Post by gamemann »

Hello everyone. I didn't rent a vps server. But my friend(i am leader with him on my group) did... So i basically control alot of the server. But we been getting alot of traffic lately. Just now it got to 27/50. Now zombie escape is on my server so that takes up more resources. I got a single core vps server. I don't have access to the machine but i do have ftp to it. So does anyone know if i could possibly handle 50 players at once on this machine with zombie escape?
Please answer...
Thanks,
Gamemann

I'm not familiar with ZE myself, and I don't know the hardware that you're on, so I can't say, but you can certainly try it. Going to a 2-core would give you a little more power, if it doesn't perform as you'd like, but depending on how the game works (how well it supports threading), it might not make a significant difference.

Well it would be nice if i knew the processor it's self. Like if it's a xeon or what's the ghz. It's linux for sure though....

If you or your buddy open a support request we can give you the GHz of your CPU.

You can see the processor through your OS. In Windows, it's under the system properties; in Linux, it's in /proc/cpuinfo.

k thanks. I will ask him if he can do that :D
In the vps screen where you order it it says the machine can handle 1-3 servers or an intense website. When it says 1-3 servers does it mean big servers or small servers?
Thanks,

Those numbers are really just estimates and depend heavily on the server,slots,plugins..etc. However I would expect that number to relate to one big server or two-three small servers, such as a scrim server.

The pop-up help when you hover over "?" says this:
If you plan to run game servers, expect near the low end of this range for large, busy servers, and near the upper end of this range for small or less-popular servers.

This is an estimate only. Keep in mind that you can always upgrade or downgrade the package after you order, should you need more or less power.

okay one last question. If i was to upgrade to a higher package from single core to two core. Would it be different ip's or same ip's?

You would keep your IP's as long as you do not move locations.

k that's good :D
We won't change locations so that's good.
Anyway server reached 31/50 right now, pretty good fps, but at the beginning it goes to 3 fps but that's normal, just for 0.1 seconds XD
As long as it doesn't seriously lag i'm okay. If it lags at the beginning with 50/50 that's normal...
Thanks,

I'm not familiar with that game enough to know what that message may mean, but it generally refers to some sort of choke due to the server being bogged down or a connection issue in some cases. Sorry if that is vague, but as I said, I am not familiar with that game.

Okay, i am going to upgrade the machine from single core to 2-3 core. Do you know if that will make the ghz go up a bit? If it did that would be great.... Since upgrading just core amount probably won't make a big different EVEN though there is total of 3 servers on the machine but 2 of them are empty and 1 of them are active....

It has a chance of changing your clock speed, up or down. During the upgrade process, the system will tell you whether your server will be moved to a new machine; if it's not moved to a new machine, your core clock speed will be the same.

If you contact us directly, we can take a look to see if a machine with faster cores is available at your location.
