New game coming out, wrote up something quick about it on our forums. Looks to have alot of potential, and before everyone asks John, I will tell you now, there is probably a 99.9% chance NFO will have this game in their lineup. Yes, Im that confident on this one.
Sorry John, even though it looks to be a bit of a source hog, Im banking it will be very do-able for you. My guess without being to run it yet, is it will be on par with like Heroes of Stalingrad in terms of bandwidth and CPU usage.
Check it out folks, sign up on their forums and lets support the new kid on the block!
Looks interesting, I might need to check that out.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point
@Juski> Got my new signature, thanks!
@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!
One of our member's personal friends is part of the developing team.
It supposed to have maps as big as the older battlefield series (2142/bf2)
with 64 players.
Now it is built on unreal engine 3. I really hope they can optimize as much as possible. I don't want RO2 type servers in our hands. Ro2 was just a resource hog. Probably worse than BF3 which is much more complex than RO2.
Every UE3 game that we've seen released has had IP binding broken in the first version, so that will be something that we'll need to look at for this. Every UE3 game also has terrible CPU usage, and this developer will have to do insane optimizations to try to hit 64 players -- Tripwire spent a LOT of time on custom optimizations for RO2 and it still barely squeaks by. I have not seen any other UE3 game work at 64 players.
Since they will be releasing the beta server files, you or I can test the multihome function of the servers. If it is an issue then we can let them know about it. That's what the beta is for, so hopefully they can do something about it. As I said, I would expect it to be a resource hog on par with HoS. I guess time will tell. Could end up being a 32 player server like Homefront.
I hope they will at least set it up with their own port, like Killing Floor did. They are releasing this game via Steam, and its not like we need another server who's default port is 27015.
