Linking FTP to Server Directory

Is it possible to link my FTP directly to my server files for my VPS? I need it linked to where all of my server folders are so I can easily upload things to it directly (I actually don't need it for myself, but a few of those servers are being used by another person and it gets annoying getting asked to upload things manually all the time).

I have a FTP server already, I just don't know how to link it to the directory I would like it to be linked to. Previously I just used it to transfer files from my computer to my VPS, but then I'd have to manually drop the files into my servers directories. Is it possible to link it to "C:\Servers\"?

Your FTP server software should have the option to set a home / root directory for your FTP user and this sounds like what you are looking to do. The procedure for setting this is different for different FTP servers, but it should be a relatively basic option that is on a main setup screen for the user.

Actually, I have a server from NFO called "hosted6.nfoservers.com", so I assume you would be able to do this for me?

If you have Filezilla Server installed, it's not hard to do.

Create a user, select the directory you want them to have access to, and then click set as home directory, and save.

They login with the user and password you create, and they get access to the folder and sub-folders in that directory.

When do not offer FTP servers for rent. What do you mean when you say that you bought an FTP server? What service do you actually have?

You did not mention webhosting at all until now. You mentioned a VDS. The webhosting has FTP access to its files, as part of the service.

Please start from the beginning and let us know exactly what you are looking to do.

Now from previous post in this topic I assume it is safe to imagine you are on a managed VDS? If so we only allow one FTP account per game server here. If you really want to give him access the best bet would be to give him the FTP login and when he is done change the password.

I would personally advise against sharing any logins but it is one possible solution.

Where do I create a user? Where do I select the directory? I have no idea where that's located or what I use to accomplish those tasks... I need more specific instructions...
