Full Access on Managed Machines?

Post by SplatterGuts »

On a managed machine do you still have full access to all of the files? I know you do not get full access to the machine itself, but once a game is installed, are you allowed access to change base files?

On a regular game server from NFo the answer is no. Hopefully it is an option here?

It depends on what you mean by full access. Most games include full access via FTP, games such as BC2,BF3..etc are not given full access since EA requires we keep those file private.

A managed machines access is just about the same as a regular game server.

Nothing new. Old Medal of Honor Allied Assault is all I'm running.

The mods I want to run with it though require that you edit a file in the base "MOHAA" folder called gamex86.dll, but before on a standard server I was not able to edit this file without John deleting it first so I could re-upload the correct version. I'm not sure if there is a permission setting that could be changed in there or what... But it would be great to have access to the base path :P

Base-game .dll files are locked down for performance, security, and management reasons, as they'll be replaced by repairs and customers might accidentally delete them or change the game to one we don't support (among other possibilities).

You can open a request and ask John make an exception for you though.
