Currently I run multiple Slot based BF3 Servers from another provider. I just stumbled across this VDS stuff the other day and have a few questions.
1) If I purchase a managed VDS and only put BF3 on it, what are the guidelines to how many slots I can run smoothly per machine? IE: Lets say I wanted to run 4 seperate servers, with 150 slots total. Assuming a maximum of 80 being used at one time. What machine would I be looking at?
2) Would the BF3 server files be updated for me on a MANAGED VDS? Or would I have to do this manually?
3) Would I be able to run procon on my computer to control each battlefield 'server'?
Thanks.

Re: BF3 Questions: Managed VDS
The worst case scenario would be one server per core, but usage patterns, maps, the game type, and so on make a big difference in less-than-worst case. I recommend that you start with a lower-end configuration and upgrade it if you run into CPU or memory limitations, since there's no harm in doing that -- upgrades are relatively painless and simple.dayz80 wrote:1) If I purchase a managed VDS and only put BF3 on it, what are the guidelines to how many slots I can run smoothly per machine? Yes, all BF3 files on all of our servers are updated for clients.2) Would the BF3 server files be updated for me on a MANAGED VDS? Or would I have to do this manually?
Yes, you could run Procon from a remote location if you wish.3) Would I be able to run procon on my computer to control each battlefield 'server'?
