Modern Warfare 3

Post by Vinyl »

I currently trying to host CoD Servers on my VDS but I am having problems with Mw3. The server appears on the Server Master List BUT I cannot connect to it.

It seems that for Modern Warfare 3, they tell me to port forward my ports but I don't have access to the router. I think that is my problem. o.o

I also set up Modern Warfare 2 and it works just fine. The server appears on the list and I am able to join the game.

Things I did/checked:
* Create Mw3 shortcut with parameters ports 27015 27016 27017
* also configured server.cfg with the same ports
* Win2003 has no Firewall activated

Any help will be appreciated
Thanks!

They don't restrict ports.
Make sure your server is the same version as your game. Different versions can cause restrictions.
Try manually connecting using the port. eg. x.x.x.x:27015 instead of just x.x.x.x
Make sure the ports are not already used by another game on the same server. 27015 is used by many other games like L4D2, TF2, L4D, etc.

Also copy the Steam.dll from your client to the MW3 base folder, as it's needed there.
