Lowering 128tick price
Hello,
I am just curious that since the FPS has been capped at the tickrate that the 128 tick will always be a premium of $14.99. Personally I don't think that double the price of a 10 slot server should justify increasing the tickrate from 100 to 128. I haven't seen what other companies offer 128tick for but i personally think the price should be adjusted.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
Wouldn't be a bad idea considering the 1000 fps option in no longer available.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
I purchased my server and then 3 days later that patch went into effect.
Now I'm not even sure if I'm getting what I'm paying for, because it hasn't been explained whether
the FPS system is on a new scale, or now just capped at 1/10th of what it was.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
This is a rather silly poll, because I can't imagine that anybody would not want prices lowered.. on anything.
The higher price stems from us running the server on Linux with our FPS Locker and allowing up to 128 tickrate, both of which significantly increase our costs in running the servers. If you do not need the ultimate in performance, but still want high performance, I recommend using the default hyperaccelerated option and running at either the default tickrate or a tickrate of 100.
Note that the game seems to crash more often at 128 tickrate, as well.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
Hello again, i was just asking for peoples opinion on the matter but with the higher costs i dont understand how the FPS locker technology that typically runs at 1000FPS cap would use a certain amount of CPU usage. Furthermore if the FPS locker locks itself at 128FPS which is the same as the tickrate of the game server the amount of resources used would be about 85% less. Also using linux instead of windows would be a cheaper solution due to the linux OS is a open source platform that anyone is free to use at no charge. unless your paying some developer for a custom kernal of some sort.
Re: Lowering 128tick price
That's not how the FPS Locker works.
The cost of the OS is not a significant factor in the equation.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
I think the point here is that $14.99 is way overpriced for a step from 100 to 128tick.
Just look at other Game Server Providers, they sells at $1/slots for 128tick.
Considering I have a 16 slots with NFO that cost me around $15.83/month with 100tick, I could just go with other company (I won't name here) that sells for $16 a 16 slots server at 128tick.
Why would NFO ask for $15 more ?

Re: Lowering 128tick price
The thing to keep in mind here is that it is not just 128 tickrate you are getting for the extra price, and in fact, the 128 tickrate was an extra thrown in that, CS:S for example, does not even have with the higher cost option.
As stated on the order page pop-up for the Ultra Accelerator option:
"For Source/Orangebox servers, the ultraaccelerator causes the server to run on specially-optimized Linux servers running our exclusive FPS Locker technology. As with the hyperaccelerator, the tickrate and FPS are still locked by Valve to 66 or 100, but this FPS will be better-maintained than on Windows.
CS:GO has an adjustable tickrate and adjustable FPS. Ultra servers can choose up to 128 tick and 1000 FPS (the engine maximum). As with other types, ultraaccelerated CS:GO servers also benefit from the FPS Locker."

Re: Lowering 128tick price
If you want to put it in that kind of perspective i personally think there should be two options one for 128 tick on the regular hyperaccelerated and another one for this "FPS locker" technology. I personally do not need that technology myself as if it only sets the frames 100 without any fluctuation. I can do with some fluctuation but the 128 tickrate with increase the registration on the server. I understand that there are some instability issues with the 128 tickrate but i do believe that they will be resolved with further patches to the game.
On a side note: NFOservers is probably the only company that is aware that the server caps the FPS at the tickrate of the server. Every other company i have seen has still been charging for FPS on the CS:GO servers. So i have no idea how many people are paying high premiums for 1000FPS servers and not receiving the performance. +1000 for NFO for being honest with their customers.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
As someone who just bought a 128 Tick Server I think the price is fine. You're not just paying for particular specs, you're paying for up time and customer service as well. Which I'd rather pay a premium and get better service than scuff a few bucks for 1/2 ass service.

Re: Lowering 128tick price
I see your point that they do have amazing service and support but I currently have a 10 slot CS:GO server for $9.34 a month (purchased for a year + free high CPU promotion) A tickrate bump from 100 to 128 for a additional $14.99 is worth more than the additional server itself. I think they should seperate the 128 tick and FPS locker options on the site for people that choose to not use it. over 100% increase in price for a small change on the server is not justified by any company unless your price hiking. I am fine with 100 tick for now but if something doesn't change after my year of service i will for sure go to another service provider or purchase a VDS system from NFO and host about 4 servers for around the same price as 1 10slot 128 tick server.TwinkleTwinkie wrote:As someone who just bought a 128 Tick Server I think the price is fine.
