How do i acess the FTP and How do i load maps onto the serverthrough the ftp............. I love being a nub!

the ftp in my control panel does not open completely, it just has the flashlight "searching" icon going back and forth. i let it go for a while and it says error, something something folder, blah blah. what do i do now, i have already read the FAQ

Do you have some sort of router or firewall which might be getting in the way?
