Prices for Dedicated Servers a bit off?

Post by Jay Singh »

You have the first machine at 200 dollars, and the second machine with a better processor, twice the RAM, twice the HDD space, 1TB more bandwidth for only 30 more dollars.

Could you please lower the price of the first machine by at least 20-30 dollars?

We actually just lowered the price of the first machine, it is unlikely to come down anymore. One of the biggest cost for machines is the CPU. The E3-1270V2 is only slightly better and only a couple of dollars different from the E3-1270. The rest is paying for the extra's you get.

We are also running a dedicated server sale as per our homepage;
https://www.nfoservers.com/index.php

So the prices there are lower then standard in most cases.

The differences between these two machines are actually minor apart from the memory amount. It is the primary reason for the price difference. The cost of a 2 TB versus 1 TB hard drive is minimal, for instance, and the processor is maybe 5-10% faster. The small bit of extra bandwidth is compensated for by the fact that the second machine uses less poewr.

Potentially we came in too low for the E3-1270v2 configuration, and it may need to be revised upward after the sale. The E3-1270 configuration is about right.

If you need something at a lower price point, our VDSes are an excellent option.

Is there any word on what the timeframe is for the end of said sale? My planning horizon is 'soon', but want to make sure it doesn't become 'too late' :roll:

No specific timeline right now. Usually sales stick around for at least a few weeks.
