BF1942 is now FREE to play.

Post by TacTicToe »

As hard as it is to believe, EA have released BF1942 as a FREE game to download. You can use the link below and download it. You do need to have Origin installed. Game is celebrating its 10th birthday. :)

They do have dedis, I am running on one our box now. 64 slots and only 65 megs of RAM. Wow, the good ole days. You can download the dedi files from many sites, but they are not current to this release. I just downloaded the game to my box via Origin, then deleted Origin from my box, but used those files for my server. Latest version is 1.612, and that is the version you will want to run on your server.

BTW thats all maps and mods FREE now. :-)

I understand that this free release is segregated from the disc version meaning that the disc version and freebie users cannot play together. I'm wondering though, with the freebie BF1942 server you're hosting, are you able to have GameTracker track it just as it does the other BF1942 servers?

I haven't had the chance to download the game and play. I just added his server to GT.

This is as of this post, just grabbed the screenshot. I have seen close to 2,800 players on yesterday. Game is doing better then most games half its age. 8O Also, I have had no problems connecting to any of the servers in my list.

People go crazy for free games. Look at TF2, since Valve made it free to play it is consistently the first or second most played game.
@Kraze^NFo> Juski has a very valid point

@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

I had some great times in that game and the Desert Combat mod for it (where DICE got their start).

If you like the ships crashing, get in a plane and fly up as high as you can, then exit vehicle. Wait to hit your parachute until the last possible second, and on the way down, your character will start screaming, and you eventually hear him crap his pants.

Pretty much. Not to resort to toilet humor or anything, but it is always the small details in games that I enjoy. :)
