FTP Access

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

Currently running Filezilla Server, and was wondering if it can be done with Filezilla Server or a different program to only allow access to specifc files and restrict others.

Like having a Dayz server where most of the files are restricted, but want to provide access to:

/dayzcfg/myserver.cfg
/daycfg/Battleye/battleye.cfg

May be more but those are examples of the top of my head.
Other files in the dayzcfg and Battleye folder are restricted but the .cfg files can be made available.

Something like you have in your panel for servers like BF3 where you provide access to files for configuring the gae server or in the pb folder. You provide access to only those that you choose.

I did some research and after trial and error it doesn't seem possible to give users access to only certain files. You can give them access to certain directories but to certain files within those directories doesn't seem possible.

@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!

Too bad.

I could move those accessible files to one directory, but it would require rewriting game files to go to the proper location to find the files. Something I couldn't handle.

Guess it stays as is.

A workaround for this could be, if you put those and other config files into sepperate folders and allow FileZilla access to only those folders, just like kraze suggested. With ArmA2 you can define the path for most config files yourself (BattlEye, game configs, etc.) in the server startup parameters.

Hope this helps Major.Pain.

You could also potentially run the FTP as a different user, and give that user permissions to only read and write specific files (while whatever user the game runs under can read and write everything in the tree). That could get a little complicated, but it would be the most secure solution.
