Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
We have multiple servers set up from the directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2" like most NFO servers do, but we use Tophe's Arma2 Dedicated Server tool to manage the servers with profiles. In each profile we make sure that the BEserver.cfg file has the rcon password and everything set in the Battleye folder. When we start the server with TA2DST this comes up
"16:52:51 Dedicated host created.
16:52:52 BattlEye Server: Initialized (v1.170)
16:52:52 Host identity created."
To me, that seems like battleye is working, battleye also works when players join the server. But for some reason all the ArmA2 rcon tools get the message "Could not connect" or some variant of that message. I even tried going through remote desktop to the server and using the IP 127.0.0.1 but I still get the same message. What am I doing wrong with setting up battleye correctly?
P.S. The Battleye folder in the ArmA 2 directory also has a BEserver.cfg with the password set in it.

It sounds like you have a VDS? Are you running these from an unmanaged VDS since that will determine where we go with troubleshooting.

Yes its a VDS, but I do not understand what a "unmanaged VDS" is.
Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
Are you running any type of firewall or real-time anti-virus that could be blocking the connection? Have you tried grabbing traffic to your VDS when you are attempting to connect to the server to see if it is coming in at all?

Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
I still cannot connect to RCON with windows firewall on or off, but I'm not running any firewall other than that.
How would I go about doing that?kraze wrote:Have you tried grabbing traffic to your VDS when you are attempting to connect to the server to see if it is coming in at all?
Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
Look at the firewall tab in your control panel. When you connect click the "grab traffic" button and then look for your IP. This will allow you to see if the connection is being made.
I would recommend you do this when no one else is making connections to the server.

I do not see anything associated to "grab traffic".kraze wrote:Look at the firewall tab in your control panel. When you connect click the "grab traffic" button and then look for your IP. This will allow you to see if the connection is being made.

The exact name is "Capture traffic to/from your server IP" on the "Firewall" tab in your control panel.

Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
Found it this time, I attempted to connect to the rcon and hitting capture right after the error "could not connect" came up, my IP did not show up in the detailed area.kraze wrote:The exact name is "Capture traffic to/from your server IP" on the "Firewall" tab in your control panel.
Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
Is your server correctly bound to your VDS's IP?

Yes, the servers IP matches with the same IP I'm connecting remotely through.kraze wrote:Is your server correctly bound to your VDS's IP?
Re: Battleye works, But RCON refuses to
What are the contents of your BEserver.cfg file? Where are you putting it on the server?

We have this inRConPassword *********
MaxPing 200
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\BattlEye"
and in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\TA2DST\ACEACREChernarus\BattlEye"
TA2DST is the server dedicated tool that we use and ACEACREChernarus is the profile we use.

Make sure your VDS isn't overloaded.
If it is, that can make it impossible for it to connect.
Also passwords are case sensative.
Have you tried using BerCon to try and connect?
This should provide a good test to see if it can connect.

The VDS is not overloaded, even with 1 server up with 0 players, it still refuses to connect..=QUACK=.Major.Pain wrote:Make sure your VDS isn't overloaded.

I've used BerCon and battlewarden guid. Same error output for both.
