Hide ip somehow?
is there anyway to hide my vds ip? ive noticed some people use like no-ip.biz and if u try to get ip from that, you cant yet it still connects to vds. any idea how they do it?
Re: Hide ip somehow?
The only way to hide the IP address and still have people able to connect to your service would be to proxy it through another host -- making that IP address the visible one.

how would i do that?
Re: Hide ip somehow?
What is your goal in hiding the IP address? If it is to make your service less likely to be attacked, and the service is hosted here, then it would generally be better not to proxy the service.
When it comes to tools, OpenVPN is one that would be worth looking at. You could also set up your own system with a GRE tunnel on both ends.

Re: Hide ip somehow?
my site been being ddosed lately and nfo tech cant do anything but block all incoming connections which dont benefit me. vps dont lag or anything. just that site wint load till ddos is over
Re: Hide ip somehow?
For websites try a free cloudflare account. It will hide your ip and cache relevant files to their servers all over the world. If they try to get your ip they will get a cloudflare ip, and if one of their servers gets attacked it won't matter, they have plenty of servers to pick up the slack. There are resolvers out there that will give your ip that you used before you got cloudflare so maybe see if you can get a new ip after you get it. You will then be forced to use cloudflare for all of your dns records.
This will not work for game servers

i know cloudflare dont work for game servers, thats why im asking why. cloudflare is only for websites and as long as theres no direct in cloudflare, they cant find your ip
Re: Hide ip somehow?
I don't understand. You said in your last post your "site" has been getting (D)DoS'd.

Re: Hide ip somehow?
yes hiding website ip is super easy but my site still get ddosed once they get the vps ip from the gameclient. so i need to hide the gameclient ip as well but how?
Re: Hide ip somehow?
You cannot(easily). Proxying game traffic will result in very high latency.
Why not host your website somewhere else(like shared webhosting here, or a linux only vds if you want more control at a higher cost).

i dont get it. i sure this company has 10-20 gb of protection but yet he takes down my site but vps doesn't lag at all though.
Re: Hide ip somehow?
probably an application specific attack against your web server. They overload the web server with requests so no legitimate traffic gets through. This can be done with very little bandwidth used.
If I am not mistaken, NFO web hosting should be configured to be immune to these types of attacks, you would have to have john comment on this though, as I am not 100% sure.

I would need to have the support request escalated to me in order to look at the traffic and analyze whether we can effectively block it for you.
We have many filters on our side that kick in automatically to stop attacks. But, application-specific attacks sometimes need to be filtered at the destination machine, through software.
