Need Advice

Post by Sid_Vicious »

So my friends and I live and Oregon and our planning getting a server set up. But were not so sure what to check off and have a few questions. Like since the Ping Accelerator only decreases ping by 10 is it really necessary? Should we get the Level3Seattle or InterNAP Seattle?
Also is the CPU Priority a good deal? Finally what are the advantages to having that private server over a public one if you can unlock the private server? Get back to me if you can! thanks very much

refer to this site:

I personally will recommend the ping accelerator, I always get it.

as for Level3 vs Internap, look at what pings you best, as well as what you can afford. Internap is the best, slightly higher than Level3.

For the private versus the public, the private cannot be unlocked, you can unlock it for a short time, but our script will come around and place a password on your server if its not locked.

Public servers, you are welcome to leave open 24/7, and lock it when you got a cal match or a scrim.

Why are public servers more money you may ask? Its because public servers will use more bandwidth since more players will be on the public server more times of the day.

Hope that answers everything.

I personally would recommend getting a server on Internap or Level3 with accelerated, if you are looking at a private. Without accelerated is great too, you could use it for a month and add the accelerated option later if you wish.

If you want to get a large public server, 20 man +, I would recommend the accelerator and cpu priority, and if money is a concern, then go Level3.

anything else, let us know, or come into #nfo-support on gamesurge network.

If we only have a max of 10 slots for players we shouldn't need the CPU priority and ping accelerator only does about 10 ping decrease correct?

no need for cpu priority then yes.

ping accelerator is a great feature, you can order the server without it to begin with, then add it later.

or you can treat yourself to some lower pings off the bat :)
