HE only supports flat-rate 100G ports, so they're prohibitively expensive.
HE also has its pros and cons. Trying to force all traffic inbound through HE would have performance consequences of its own..

Re: Chicago capacity upgrades?
Recently, and since we wrote here, we've been seeing a big spike in large reflection attacks that AS1299/Arelion (formerly Telia Carrier) and AS174/Cogent really struggle with, partially because they use Cisco gear (which doesn't have good ACL performance) and partially due to internal capacity issu...
Re: Ryzen?
We have a few 5950X machines that become available from time to time, and we use some AMD processors for VDSes. We've found that Ryzen machines have worse server performance than Intel, at least for game servers. It's not a lot worse, but it's enough to make Intels a better choice most of the time. ...

Re: Chicago capacity upgrades?
Hi edge, as for where I got the info on the attack sizes it was horizoniq (inap) ddos report. Wouldn't put much stock in it, then! INAP (and its successors) have always been completely, horribly, bad at understanding and mitigating DDoS attacks. They have always struggled to understand what I told ...

Re: Chicago capacity upgrades?
I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but not much has changed, actually, on the attack side. We have not been observing botnet-based attacks getting noticeably larger or more destructive recently. Reflection attacks, while still not to historic levels, have ticked up in size a bit rec...

Re: [TF2] HELP: Server crashes and restarts after loading 3 or 4 maps
This one turned out to be due to an outdated Sourcemod install. An upgrade through the Autoinstallers page fixed it up!

Re: mysql version
In the short term, it's not something that's practical to do. There are significant enough differences between the two that existing customer databases will need major conversion work. In the medium to long term, I can investigate further, though.

Re: Mother's Day sale - E-2186 and E-2288 for $40 off!
For these servers, it adds around 10% to the cost of the machine, so unfortunately it's not trivial.
Not sure why that is. Seems like they should have made 10G copper the standard 10 years ago.

Re: Mother's Day sale - E-2186 and E-2288 for $40 off!
lithium720, we don't have many dedicated machines with 10G adapters, mostly because we haven't seen the demand for it. Most CPU/memory intensive tasks, like game servers, simply don't need it -- the main reason they might is to absorb DDoS attacks, but it's really rare to have an attack between 1 Gb...

Mother's Day sale - E-2186 and E-2288 for $40 off!
For a short time, we are offering a steep discount on freshly-ordered E-2186 and E-2288 dedicated machines. Normally priced at 199.99/mo, we've slashed the E-2186 down to 159.99/mo -- a $40 savings . With the "highest discount" option chosen to trade a one-time payment for a permanent mont...

Layers of DDoS protection
We've gotten some inquiries from customers recently about how our DDoS protection works and how it compares to other companies. We have a multi-layered approach to DDoS mitigation that applies to all locations and services. Large upstream links and always-on upstream filters We use large upstream li...

I'll have to look into it further, but this likely no longer applies to CS2 and may need to be removed from that page.

Re: Partial FTP Access?
At the price point of our webhosting services, we can't really support one account branching into many sites with different permissions structures -- the resource demand for each account would quickly balloon past our costs. If you are thinking of reselling or otherwise restrict just one domain out ...
Re: PalWorlds
I'm sorry that I didn't see your questions sooner here! If you don't mind losing your world/characters, switching to Linux wouldn't be too bad. The configuration file just goes in a different place on the Linux version, and you could save and restore that. If you want to keep the player data, it's a...
