Why do I get disconnected from my FTP?

Post by kraze »

It's common to get disconnected from your FTP server after a period of inactivity. To reconnect, you can simply navigate to a different folder or manually reconnect to the server.

If you're frequently getting disconnected during file transfers, you can try enabling the "Send FTP keep-alive commands" option in your FTP client. This will send regular commands to the server to keep the connection active.

To enable this in FileZilla:
  1. Select "Edit"
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Select "FTP"
  4. Check "Send FTP keep-alive commands"
  5. Select "OK" to save your changes
To enable this in WinSCP:
  1. Select "New Tab"
  2. Select your existing site, or "New Site"
  3. Select "Advanced"
  4. Select "Connection"
  5. Under "Keepalives" select one of the two options
  6. Modify "Seconds between keepalives" to your preference
  7. Select "OK"
  8. Fill out the session details with your credentials
  9. Select "Save" to save your changes
