Bad Lag issues on my vps

Post by flamedog »

Ok so at first i was running a minecraft server on ubuntu and then i switched the tf2 server so i could host a MvM server for me and friends. But ive noticed that each day the cpu got higher / the lag got worse. I was just wondering what was going wrong with my server ? i mean at first it was working great with no lag we could play all we wanted but the next day there was a little lag and now it lags every second :| ive opened a ticket but since its not a manged server they cant do much so i was sent here.

Have you been restarting the game server at least daily? TF2 has some memory leaks that reduce performance over time. What CPU and memory usage are you currently sitting at?

How much does that leave you free?

80% is very high. Do you only have a single-core VDS?

200 MB left is not good.

I would tentatively recommend upgrading to a 2-core configuration.
