Your config looks ok. One thing I've seen many times before is issues while running a database along side your server. You wouldn't happen to be running on, would you? If so, is it on an SSD?

i am running a my sql server on the same machine not on a ssd. But i do use config based traders so the trader data tables are not used. also ive tweeked the max packet size in mysql to max_allowed_packet = 512M.

would i benift from renting a small vps with an ssd from you guys just for an sql server?
Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
If the database is your problem you wouldn't need a second VDS. You could just add SSD space to your current VDS. Price for that starts at $2.99 for 5GB. Though, if you are able to I'd advise just disabling the database temporarily to see if that solves the issue or at least helps.

servers will not start without a database to write to. im talking max performance would i benefit more from an ssd on this vps or another 3 core vds with alot of ssd space just for a mysql server.
Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
Just adding SSD space to your 12 core should be fine performance.

I am also trying to think of the long run for our gaming community as we grow and expand into other game servers. Im trying to give the best playing experience possible for my players. also one more thing do you guys have an anti ddos system in place natively or do i have to have my pal who does that for a living set something up for me.
Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
If you plan on filling up your 12-core with game servers, then adding a second VDS for SQL could be a good choice. I would go for the 2-core initially. We have very active databases and a 2-core linux VDS suits us well.

Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
im sure eventally once things are 100% on this vds i may add other servers onto it. Its probably best for me just to get a 2-3core vds with alot of ssd space and use it just as a sql server. soja do you think 2 core is enuff. ill have to use windows it takes me to long to look up all the commands for linux lol. also i like to back up the databases every 30-60 mins. Also soja is your database vds in the same location as your game server vds.
Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
If you're running windows you might want a 3-core, or a 2-core with an extra GB of ram. Linux by default uses ~60MB RAM, and you want as much free as you can for a disk cache.motomonster wrote:im sure eventally once things are 100% on this vds i may add other servers onto it. My databases are all backed up every 30min. Our database VDS is in a different location than our game servers, but that was simply because we didn't want all of our servers in 1 location. At the time we purchased our website/SQL VDS Chicago was having DDoS issues, so we put the website VDS in NYC. I would recommend putting your SQL VDS in the same location as your game servers if you can. SQL is very sensitive to ping issues. Between the 2 NFO locations we only have 19ms ping.

Re: need help with 8 core vds and dayz epoch servers
In your command line, are you using things like: -cpuCount=4 -maxMem=1578 -exThreads=1
If so, try removing them. We used to see lag and stuttering with Origins, and other types of servers. Apparently, these things are now hard coded into the game so that they auto adjust for the best performance. Having them in the command line just locks them to those settings and may decrease performance if set incorrectly.
